Microsoft telah meluncurkan produk baru, yaitu Windows 8. windows 8 yang diluncurkan adalah versi preview atau pre-beta, tujuannya untuk mengenalkan fitur baru yang ada pada Windows 8. konsep yang didukung dan diterapkan adalah model tablet atau pad yang mana memanfaatkan fitur touchscreen. selain itu, Windows 8 mendukung arsitektur processor x86, x64, dan ARM.
Kebutuhan sistem yang diperlukan untuk instalasi Windows 8:
  • 1GHz atau lebih cepat, processor berbasiskan 32-bit (x86) atau 64-bit (x64)
  • 1GB RAM (32-bit) atau 2GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16GB free harddisk space (32-bit) atau 20GB (64-bit)
  •  DirectX 9 graphics device yang mendukung WDDM 1.0 atau versi lebih tingginya.
  • (optional) touch input untuk layar
  • Untuk menjalankan aplikasi berbasis metro dibutuhkan resolusi minimal 1024x768

  • Windows Developer Preview English (32-bit)
  • Windows Developer Preview English (64-bit)
  • Windows Developer Preview with developer tool (64-bit)
